On the one hand, it ranks among mid-sized European cities and offers all the comforts of big capitals, while on the other, it has preserved a small-town friendliness and a uniqueness of its own. Day 2 | Ljubljana-Lake Bled

After breakfast, we are taking you towards the Alpine region, where on the banks of the mountain lake, beneath the peaks of Julian Alps a charming little town of Bled is situated. This pearl of Slovenia and the whole Alpine region, with a tiny island and St. Mary’s Church in the middle of the Lake and an old medieval castle up on the cliff that offers you an amazing view, is something you will be enchanted with. Departure back to Ljubljana for your tour. Ljubljana Castle, standing on a hill above the city for about 900 years, is arguably the main attraction for visitors to the city. The castle’s Outlook Tower and ramparts offer some of the most beautiful views of the city. But all that lies beneath it from the Old Town to Ljubljana’s multitude of museums and galleries are more than worthy of further investigation. The extraordinary combination of treats, from the architecture of Jože Plečnik’s to the historic atmosphere of the Old Town to the occasional blast-to-the-past burst of retro-Yugoslav urban planning all work together in harmony to create this small and perfectly formed city.

Day 3 | Ljubljana-Rovinj

In the morning, departure to Postojna Cave. Postojna Cave is the best-known cave in the world. It is also the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world’s largest karst monuments. You need no special preparations to visit it: you only need an anorak and warm footwear, the temperature inside the cave is namely constant: 10 °C. This is the only place in the world where the underground landscape can be traversed on an electric train and where you get to meet this underground kingdom’s most famous inhabitant – the proteus (olm) – up close. The Predjama Castle reigns over the surrounding area, not far from the Postojna Cave, in the idyllic village of Predjama. This picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious, and impregnable castle has been perched up in the middle of a vertical 123-meter high cliff for more than 800 years. As the only preserved cave castle in Europe, the Predjama Castle offers a unique insight into the building techniques and resourcefulness of people in the Middle Ages, who were looking for and found a safe harbor for themselves right at the entrance into the cave. Departure to Rovinj.
