Breakfast. Today, you are headed to the Guatemalan highlands to visit the village of Chichicastenango, where we will visit one of the most famous indigenous markets in all Latin America. You will also attend a corn workshop with local women. Corn is the most important staple food in Guatemala. After the visit, we will continue to Lake Atitlán, as Aldous Huxley once said, “one of the most beautiful lakes in the world”.

Begin your third day with breakfast at your hotel. Today, we will take a boat to visit two of the twelve villages that surround this beautiful lake. We will visit the Tzutuhil village of San Juan La Laguna characterized by the harmony in which its inhabitants live with nature and culture. We will continue to Santiago Atitlán, a town inhabited by indigenous Tzutuhiles who live from fishing and handcrafts, although they are better known as worshippers of a Mayan-Catholic deity they call Maximón.

Have breakfast at your hotel. Today, we are headed to La Antigua Guatemala, a colonial city declared a World Heritage Site. On route, we will visit the archaeological site of Iximché, the ancient Mayan capital of the Cakchiquel Kingdom. Upon our arrival in La Antigua, we will visit the Cathedral, La Merced Church, the Central Plaza, and its main streets and monuments.

Enjoy your last breakfast in Guatemala before departure. You will then be transferred to the international airport of Guatemala City depending on your departure time.
