While it is our intention to adhere to the route described, there is a certain amount of flexibility built into the itinerary and on occasion it may be necessary, or desirable, to make alterations. On Day 1 of the tour, you will be advised of any amendments.
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by one of the representatives to assist you in transferring you to your hotel.
Begin the day with breakfast at your hotel.
Depart to the Guatemalan highlands with destination to the village of Chichicastenango, where we will visit one of the most famous indigenous markets in all Latin America. Afterward, we will head to a corn workshop with the local women. Corn is the most important staple food in Guatemala. After the visit, we will continue to Lake Atitlán, as Aldous Huxley once said, “one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.”

Begin your third day with breakfast at your hotel. Today, we will take a boat to visit two of the twelve villages that surround this beautiful lake. We will visit the Tzutuhil village of San Juan La Laguna characterized by the harmony in which its inhabitants live with nature and culture. We will continue to Santiago Atitlán, a town inhabited by indigenous Tzutuhiles who live from fishing and handcrafts, although they are better known as worshippers of a Mayan-Catholic deity they call Maximón.

Have breakfast at your hotel. Today, we are headed to La Antigua Guatemala, a colonial city declared a World Heritage Site. On route, we will visit the archaeological site of Iximché, the ancient Mayan capital of the Cakchiquel Kingdom. Upon our arrival in La Antigua, we will visit the Cathedral, La Merced Church, the Central Plaza, and its main streets and monuments.

Enjoy the day at leisure to enjoy La Antigua, strolling through its cobbled streets, appreciating their architectural style of yesteryear, or relaxing in the hotel facilities. As an optional activity, during the morning, we recommend taking an excursion to Pacaya Volcano (not included, available at an additional fee).

After breakfast, enjoy the morning to rest and enjoy the facilities of the hotel. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to La Aurora International Airport to take the local flight to Petén (flight is not included, to be booked by agent). Upon your arrival in Petén, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Following breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the Mayan city of Tikal, the jewel of the classic Mayan World. Enjoy lunch at the archaeological site. Afterward, we will transfer to Petén Airport to take the local flight back to Guatemala City (flight not included, to be booked by agent). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Guatemala City
Barcelo Hotel
An outdoor pool, hot tub and spa with a gym and sauna are offered at this elegant hotel. Each spacious room has a terrace with views over Guatemala City or the surrounding volcanoes.
Barceló Guatemala City offers classic-style rooms with flat-screen cable TV, air conditioning and a safe. A mini-bar, coffee maker and free bottled water are included. Bathrooms come with bathrobes.
The hotel features 25 meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 1,500 people. The hotel’s 24-hour reception can organize airport transfers and city tours. Car hire can be arranged, and there is free private parking on site.
The La Pergola Pool Bar has a poolside terrace and serves local and international cuisine. The hotel also has a sports bar and a stylish lobby bar with live music.
Lake Atitlan
Porta Hotel del Lago
Set next to Lake Atitlán, Porta Hotel del Lago offers views of the Guatemalan Highlands. It features an outdoor swimming pool, terrace and gym.
Each attractive room has a terrace with lake and volcano views. All rooms have cable TV and a private bathroom.
Cakchiquel and Tocoyal restaurants offer a range of Guatemalan cuisine. Xocomil Bar serves drinks and snacks throughout the day.
Guests can make use of Porta Hotel del Lago’s natural sulfured cold tub and sauna. There is also a children’s club with activities on weekends.

This elegant hotel is located within a tropical estate, on the edge of the Petenchel and Monifata Lagoons. White-tailed deer and peccaries are bred in the grounds, and the hotel features an outdoor pool.
Villa Maya’s air-conditioned rooms have stylish décor and feature a furnished balcony with garden, forest and lagoon views. All come with private bathroom and Wi-Fi is available for a charge.
Villa Maya’s restaurant serves a varied menu of international and regional dishes, and offers a BBQ on Sundays. There is also a bar-cafeteria and room service is available.
The hotel is well located for exploring this exotic area, with its jungles filled with numerous species of bird, monkey and tropical plant. Nature trails, bike and binocular rental and horse riding are just some of the services on offer.
La Antigua
Camino Real Antigua
Camino Real Antigua is located in Antigua Guatemala, about 30 minutes’ drive from Guatemala City. The hotel has an oversized hot tub and a gym.
Antigua Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its Baroque architecture. The Central Park and Cathedral are just 6 minutes’ walk away from the hotel.
The luxurious and spacious rooms and suites in Camino Real have a flat-screen TV, iPod dock and laptop safe. They also have a minibar, Wi-Fi, and a bathroom with bathrobe and slippers.
