DAY 1 | JUNE 5, 2020: ARRIVAL – BALI

Upon arrival at Ngurah Rai International airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel directly, approximately 1.5 hours drive nonstop.

Visit at one of the most beautiful temples in South Bali, the Pura Taman Ayun, former royal family temple; was built in the 17th century by the former King of Mengwi as his family temple; translated its name means “the floating flower garden” as the temple is situated in the middle of an artificial lake; it has three ascending levels of spacious courtyards containing rows of shrines and pavilions. Take a short walk through the complex and admire the impressive surroundings. Your last stop and highlight of this tour waits at the coast. The famous Tanah Lot Temple is one of the most important temples in Bali; it is built on a small island in front of the west coast; a perfect place to enjoy an amazing sunset in a breathtaking environment (Subject to weather permit). What’s better than having a local cocktail of coconut juice mixed with local Arak (Balinese liquor), served along with local snacks.

Return to hotel in the evening.

Following breakfast, Hotel inspection Ubud area (2 hotels) with hosted lunch. Drive to Tampak Siring village before undertaking a spiritual cleansing ritual at Tirta Empul temple. It has several fountains with holy spring water surrounded by a large shrine to honor the God Indra. Here you will have a purifying blessing ceremony in the bathing pools which are believed to have strong curative powers (Simple offering provided with sarong used for bathing).

Following breakfast, there will be 2 hotel inspections in the Candidasa area (2 hotels) with hosted lunch at one of the hotels.

We are heading east to see the Kerta Gosa, or Hall of Justice, built in the 18th century in Klungkung. It is beautifully laid out within a moat and provides an exquisite example of the Klungkung style of painting and architecture which can be seen through the ceiling murals. After lunch, continue to Taman Tirta Gangga (Water Palace) whose swimming pools and ornamental ponds serve as a fascinating reminder of the Balinese rajah’s old days. Our last stop will be Tenganan, an original Balinese village, a stronghold of ancient traditions. You can see the local women weave the famous “flaming” cloth, kamben geringsing, which supposedly has the power of immunize the wearer against evil.

All Balinese believe their healer Balian (shaman), and you have a chance to meet one today. Visit a Balian at their home and have a one-on-one consultation. (due to group size and time, not everyone may have the chance). Please keep in mind that Balian is not a professional, their availability may change last minute if they have a ceremony to attend or other reason. In this case, we will try to reschedule where possible. Drive north to and trek to a waterfall in Munduk. The area is very fertile and large plantations of cloves, cacao, and coffee are found throughout. As we enjoy the cold breeze from the forest waterfall our local guide will show you the plentiful natural resources found within the forest. Proceed to Banjar Village to visit the Hot Springs (with the possibility for swimming), and to visit Brahma Vihara Arama, the Buddhist Temple. Sit in the silence for a short meditation led by the monk.

DAY 6 | JUNE 10, 2020: LOVINA – NUSA DUA

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Beji Temple, dedicated to the goddess Dewi Sri, who looks after irrigated rice fields. Then driving down through Kintamani, enjoy spectacular views of Mount Batur, with its crater lake. Drive around the outer crater to visit the traditional village of Penglipuran. Afterward drive toward the south to Nusa Dua, en route passing Sanur beach area. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant enroute.

Following breakfast, you will head on an orientation drive to Kuta Beach and Seminyak Beach. Hotel inspection Seminyak area (2 hotels) with hosted lunch at one of the hotels.

Depends on timing, a stop at one of the popular beaches can be arranged if time permits. In the afternoon, the group will head to a sunset outing to the southwestern tip of Bali at the Uluwatu cliff area.

In the evening, the group will have a farewell dinner.

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning is free at leisure until the check-out time (12:00 – standard hotel policy). At the appropriate time, you will be transferred to the Ngurah Rai International Airport for your departing flight.

Breakfast at the hotel. We will bring you to the most spectacular and world’s biggest Buddhist monument complex of Borobudur, built around 800 A.D. Looming out of a patchwork of bottle-green paddies and swaying palm tops, this colossal Buddhist relic is one of the continent’s marvels. After the decline of Buddhism and the shift of power to East Java, the monument was abandoned soon after its completion. For centuries the complex laid forgotten, buried under layers of volcanic ash. Climb up to the top and enjoy a wonderful view on the Menoreh Mountains. Enough time is given to stroll around the complex and to discover its beauty. Afterwards we continue to visit the nearby located temples such as Pawon Temple and Mendut Temple, before exploring the village of “Candi Rejo.” Travelling through the village by “Andong” (horse drawn carriage), you will gain an insight into the local customs and traditions, art and handicrafts, traditional health drinks and the agricultural system of intercropping. Take a short rest before embarking on your next activity: learning to play the Gamelan. With a few simple instructions you’ll be taught local songs on this bamboo and wood instrument that is found throughout Indonesia. Hotel inspection near Borobudur, with lunch hosted. In the afternoon we drive you to Prambanan village to visit Prambanan Temple. The Hindu temple of the “slender virgin”, also known as a complex of Lorojongrang, was built in the 9th century while Java was ruled by the Hindu Sanjayas of Old Mataramh. It consists of 3 major temples/shrines in the main area dedicated to respected Hindu’s God Trinity such as Candi Shiva Mahadeva, Candi Brahma & Candi Vishnu. Enough time is given to walk around and observe the beautiful carvings and the neighbourhood shrines such as the Candi Palosan and The Candi Sewu. The Ramayana story is carved into the walls of the temples.

You will start your day for a cultural tour through the city. Our guide will bring you to the Kraton Sultan Palace walking over the remains of the past centuries, enabling you to understand the history of this artistic city. The palace was built in 1970 by Sri Sultan Hamengkubowono I. The palace is modelled on a traditional Javanese palace and still serves to this day as the Sultan’s Palace. Over 25,000 people live within the greater Kraton compound named Taman Sari, which consists of its own market, shops, batik and silver cottage industries, schools and mosques. We will have a walking tour to the Water Castle and Kota Gede which has been famed as the hub of Yogyakarta’s silver industry since the 1930’s.Now a suburb of Yogyakarta, this quiet old town was the first capital of the Mataram Kingdom, found by Panembahan Senopati in 1582. You will visit the busy silver workshops to watch the process. Afterward you will be transferred to airport for your onward flight to Bali.
